Metamorphosis
The black bug lives it's life at the bottom of the pond eyeing other insects flying over the surface of water but certain that that's not it's fate. There is some dissatisfaction with the same mundane existence day after day.
Curiosity finally gets the better of him and he ventures along the stem of a plant laboriously trying to get to the surface of the water. He finally gets there and finds his shell drying up and cracking in the process minus the moisture.
He feels his end is near and resigns himself to this fate before realising that a new body awaits!
He unfolds his wings tentatively as he realises he can fly and there is a much larger and vibrant world waiting for him to explore!
This is the final chapter of his life cycle as he transforms into a dragonfly. What a beautiful and vibrant final phase! He looks down into the pond and sees his fellow beings still crawling at the bottom, unaware and ignorant yet. Their time too shall come, he thinks as he finally spreads his wings and flies away.
Isn't this somewhat similar to a spiritual awakening? I should think so.
