Game of
Football
Oh how like a game of football
Is this life of ours as we rise and fall!
Kicked about, tossed and twirled
Life throws it’s challenges as it unfurls.
Players passions run high with yelling and
excitement,
The onlookers watch on with anxiety and
merriment.
Kicked high the ball soars above all,
Looking down on the crowd before it falls.
When it hits the net it is a Goal!
Much jubilation as stories yet untold
Are being made as the game unfolds.
The ball rebounds and again hits a sole!
The game goes on with outcome unknown.
Harried and tossed the ball it’s fate
bemoans.
Now it crosses the boundary, A penalty is
declared!
Oh some more kicking about, to see how a
team fared.
The flurry and madness as the game
continues
All to read some score board news.
Some rules are followed and some they flout,
All till the adrenaline rush wears out!
The wearied football now waits for the end.
To catch it’s breath it needs some quiet
time to spend.
Does the Lord above watch this game on earth
with the same passion
As we go through the motions mostly lacking
compassion?
To what purpose do we play this game?
Only for temporary fortune and fame!
For soon the game will end and it will be
time to rest,
To recoup and recover before we are tossed
about a fresh!
Oh dear Lord when it’s time for the end
May I look back and say, “It was time well
spent”
“It was time well spent”
